About Precinct

Precinct is part of the social enterprise family
owned by University of Manchester Students'
Union, which already includes Manchester
Academy, 532 Bar + Kitchen and Corridor
Coffee Company.

Our latest offering, Precinct, was born out of a
desire to create a new offering for our local
community, whilst also putting something back
into it.

Our values

Our values stand at the centre of
everything we do here. We strive to deliver
great service and a feeling of community
and inclusivity. We truly believe in
community being a two way street, and
ask that you work with us, providing
honest feedback so that improvement and
progression remain central to our mission.

You told us you wanted Precinct to be
affordable, adaptable and welcome – and we
heard you. You'll find everything from a cosy,
daytime café vibe through to an evening spent
supporting local acts accompanied by our
expansive range of food and drink options.
We've curated this to be a space where you can
stop by for one, or stick around and enjoy your
time with us for as long as you want.

Precinct is a venue for all occasions.
Somewhere to meet, work, unwind, celebrate –
to share with friends, or enjoy some alone time.

We're putting back every penny that comes through
Precinct back into our community of students at The
University of Manchester. As a social enterprise, we work
hard to make sure we are offering value, comfort and
affordable quality.

Work with us

Students are at the heart of our family and we
employ over 400 students part-time in our
wider businesses every year.

You'll find current Precinct vacancies advertised on
the jobs board of our parent the University of
Manchester Students' Union website, so check back
regularly if you're interested in hospitality
opportunities. With shifts and work patterns designed
to adapt to student schedules we are sure there will
be something for everyone.

A step back in time

The name Precinct comes from the history of
our location and its surroundings. .

Sharing the same architects as the Arndale Centre,
the Precinct Centre was Wilson and Womersley's
ambitious, futuristic vision for accelerating modern
retail and how it could intersect into community life.
Built between 1970 and 1972, the Precinct Centre
occupied this location until 2016.
